Northern Lights Hunt
The Northern Lights chase is one of the most exciting adventures the Arctic has to offer. The Aurora Borealis is one of nature's most spectacular phenomena, and the Murmansk region is among the best places on Earth to witness it. The key to a successful hunt is getting away from city lights and cloud cover. Your guide monitors solar activity forecasts and weather conditions in real time, choosing the best direction just before departure. The route is never the same twice — each chase is unique. Along the way, you drive through the nighttime tundra, past snow-covered hills, into complete silence. When the aurora appears, everything stops. It might be a faint green band on the horizon or a full-blown display of dancing curtains of light in multiple colors. Your guide helps with camera and phone settings for the best photos, knows the best angles, and can capture the moment for you. The tour lasts approximately three hours in the late evening. Important: the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed. However, we choose nights with the best forecasts — clear skies and high solar activity. The best season is September through April, with peak probability in November through January when nights are longest. Northern Lights tours from Murmansk are also available in Teriberka and other remote locations. This is an experience that stays with you forever.
